SUNDAY SELECTIONS

THIS SO SWEET TO TRUST IN JESUS

how sweet it is to trust in Jesus,just to take him at his word, to rest upon his promise are you trusting in him today? are you taking  him at his word? are you resting in his promises?

'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus"

’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, "Thus says the Lord!"

Refrain

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!

O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me
’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Refrain

Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.

Refrain

I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.

Refrain

"'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus"

do you ever stop to think where our songs come from? what inspires them? the History?

(internet source)

According to the story: It was a beautiful sunny day. Louisa M. Stead, her husband, and her daughter Lily, decided to go for a picnic. They went picnicking on Long Island Sound. While having their picnic, the Steads heard a scream. It was from a young boy. Mr. Stead ran to the rescue. Louisa Stead and young Lily watched helplessly as Mr. Stead and the boy drowned. Their troubles were not over yet, however, and without her husband, Mrs. Stead became very poor and destitute.Yet God never left her. He provided for her always and she and her daughter made it through. Louisa learned to trust God, and thus the words to the song 'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus.' Shortly after this incident, Louisa and her daughter Lily moved to South Africa where they became missionaries.

The song is included in many hymnals and has been recorded by many artists

STILL POWERFUL!

as far back as great grandmothers, childhood, the white one I won by answering a Bible question on the radio back in the 70's, I noticed in the big one from Terry's grandmother she had written in a simple but powerful scripture on the first page, be sure your sins will find you out.........even generations before they stood in the gap & instilled the word, how powerful!, they sit on a shelf in our office among other precious memories, they may appear as just old tattered & worn to you but I promise you the words between the pages are still just as powerful!

ATTEND MY WORD

Bible Near a Window - Open Bible illuminated by two candles...

My son  attend to my words, incline thine ear unto my  saying, Let them not depart from thine eyes, keep them in the mist of thine heart, For they are life unto those that find them and health to all their flesh (Prov.4:20-22)

Deut. 11 tells us not only to bind the word in our heart but in our soul as well

My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings (Prov.4;20)

attend: to listen, to heed, to wait upon, to apply, to be ready to serve

incline: to lower or bend the heard or ear or body as in a nod or bow, a deviation from a definite direction

when we listen with  a whole heart, take heed to what the spirit is saying, not deviating from the left nor to the right but stand firm in one direction looking straight ahead with our ear leaned toward the word, waiting, willing & ready to serve it is then the flood gates of heaven will begin to open
